Avec Sandy bridge, Intel a dévoilé sa famille des chipsets série 6, notamment le H67 orienté vers un usage bureautique, HTPC avec sa faculté de profiter de la partie GPU HD2000 ou HD3000 du processeur et le P67 orienté vers le monde des amateurs d’optimisations, des joueurs en herbe et autres amoureux de performances.
Le H67 et le P67 se ressemblent avec le support sur deux ports du SATA 6 Gb/s. Cependant, deux différences de taille les distinguent tout de même. Le H67 est le seul à gérer la partie graphique des processeurs Sandy bridge tandis que le P67 donne accès aux réglages permettant de l’overclocking CPU et se dote également des 16 lignes PCIe 2.0 configurables en 8/8, une qualité pour monter une configuration SLI ou Crossfire.
